My name is Martin Drozd. I’m the vocalist and composer-guitarist for Protokult. My story is we’re celebrating females in metal music. This is the first annual Maple Metal Divas Fest and we have lots of talent – we have ourselves, we have a band from Toronto and Quebec, and it’s to celebrate the female presence in metal. You know a lot of people think metal is macho, only limited to men, but since the 90’s – hell even the 80’s – there’s been a very more underground female essence and we’re seeing it more and more so we’re just here to remind people that females are very present and the genre isn’t limited. It’s a time to celebrate and it’s a time to get familiar.
