My name is Mahsa and Toronto is my home. I’ve spent just about all of my life here and every time I walk through the streets of Toronto I feel very grateful that of all the places my parents chose Toronto to immigrate to. Growing up here in the city I felt like Toronto was the fifth member of my family. It was a witness and it was an influence throughout my entire life and I’m about to move away in a couple of weeks to Amsterdam. I’m a little frightened by the thought of leaving the comfort and familiarity of Toronto but I feel like I take my city for granted sometimes. I’m looking forward to moving away and missing home. I hope I can gain a different perspective and appreciation for this city. Maybe I’ll write Toronto a love letter while I’m abroad.
